Dozens of factories
Dozens of factories that will be built in the Galilee will provide work for thousands of workers who reside in the Galilee. The Galilee Development Authority has launched a new website that offers information about vacant industry areas, companies and industrialists who have chosen the Galilee as well as classified ads for job seekers.
There are more than ten industrial administrations in the Galilee area. Ten more factories will be added to the Ramat Dalton administration including: Palsam, Butterfly, Pasta Nona,MishtaheiEtz, Galitathat would provide work for about 250 workers. Four plants will be added to the Bar Lev administration, including Astron, Mezam Technologies Inc. Moked precision tools and Sherman Karmelproviding work for about 300 workers.
Four factories will be added to the AlonTavor Administration: a plant producing tahini and halva, another producing cranes, a plant manufacturing electric gates and yet another one making plastic, thus offering work to about 110 workers. MevootGilboa will employ more than 1000 workers in the following areas: freshly squeezed juices,PriNiv, logistic storage of Batman B, Teller- almond hulling and processing, a plant for vehicle services. Fruit Aroma in the field of food extracts will open a worldwide development center Yamit, a plant producing systems that purify and clean water as well as provide wastewater treatment, to agriculture and industrial markets, 90% of which are exported. Bnei Yehuda industrial administration in Ramat Ha'Golan is in process: six plants including a boutique winery and a plant for producing granola will offer work for 100 workers.
Two factories are being expanded in Katzering: Mei Eden, a high-tech plant and two plants in the field of security. The factories will hold 150 new posts. In the last year, The Galilee Development Authority, under the leadership of the minister Silvan Shalom and as part of governmental decisions led by the ministry, invested about 30 million NIS in advancing industry in the Galilee. "Employment is a key consideration in the decision of residents to move to the Negev and the Galilee. Upon entering the office, I set a goal for myself to bring at least 300,000 additional residents to the Galilee in the coming decade. Putting up anchor plants that are followed by additional plants is an ultimate endeavor on the way to realizing this goal. The purpose of this project is to build additional industrial areas and transform the existing ones into more modern facilities capable of receiving additional anchor factories that would provide thousands of other work places for the residents of the area.
According to the deputy prime minister, the minister of the development of the Negev and Galilee, Silvan Shalom, this decision is only one of many others that are promoted by the office and have been taken in other fields such as education, health, infrastructure, and recreation to realize the enormous potential in the area.
"It's no secret that the relocation of most of the new and old plants to areas of national priority has been aided by the government to provide work for the residents of the periphery settlements. On the one hand, plants that are exporting their produce have even received a special package of benefits on the other hand, there are some plants that have decided to move to the Galilee for environmental reasons, the open spaces as well as Zionist issues. There are also plants that despite not meeting the criteria of the state for getting grants have made it their goal to operate in a green environment adjacent to settlements that are known for their high quality population with affinity to Zionist settlement. An example for such plant is the plant Tosaf Compounds situated in the Industry Park AlonTabvor run by AvrahamBarkan.
These days the Authority has launched a website that aggregates the relevant information from the administrations of the industry parks in the Galilee. These days, there are ten such industrial parks operating in the Galilee that are run cooperatively by a few authorities: AlonTavor Park, Bar Lev, KiryatShmona- Upper Galilee, Dalton Industrise Park, Tzahar, Sagie 2000, Gilboa, Tzvaim, Bnei Yehuda and Katzerin.
Thousands of workers are employed in these industrial parks and strengthen the local and regional economy. The site was established in cooperation with the administrations of the cooperative industrial parks and its purpose is to become a marketing platform that aggregates all the information in one place making it convenient and accessible. The goal is to provide the industrialists who are interested in moving from the center with the information about benefits, obtainability of trade and industry areas and available services to the extent of details about plots and structures. Additionally, this is a useful and efficient tool for administrators to map and market industry premises in their ownership.
